AFRiLOSOPHY is looking for you!
AFRiLOSOPHY is looking for you!

We want to combine our need for trainers, capacity builders, and volunteers with our desire to establish a social entrepreneurship culture where we create local solutions to local problems.

This is an opportunity for a short stays at our institute in exchange for skills, creativity, conversation and knowledge. Your short stay may support AFRiLOSOPHY in particular or the wider community in general, with skills training for manufacturing, agriculture, school construction or our plastic management and recycling venture in partnership with the secondary schools.

You may teach us better, faster methodologies in our artistic creations to create higher quality products; innovative processing methods to improve on our use of local raw materials for cosmetics manufacturing; to support our local shoe production to develop our school shoes program to restore dignity to our students; or for ideation on our environmental regeneration programs.

In that regard, this ‘voluntourism’ page will showcase the beauty of our local community, including natural sites and share our needs at the factory and the larger community. If you decide to offer us a weekend, a week or longer, our trainees from our Youth Lead Tourism can give you guided tours to showcase our district, and in return, we get to learn a new skill from you!

We have round chalets that are under construction. These eco lodges, built using local clay with thatched roofs, situated close to the institute in a picturesque location, are available for your comfortable stays

We can create a niche market for youth in tourism with sites, history and things to do in Marampa including Marampa Trail (a history of Rokel river) either with hikes or biking.

For impact and scale, we need you. Please give your skill to our purpose driven enterprise. See areas of impact below.

Training support and volunteers needed in the following purpose driven areas:
Crafts and Accessories Manufacturing

Well crafted hand made accessories are a premium in the fashion world. Our products that also do good should be well placed in the market for their quality and their purpose over profits story. We want to continue to innovate, to be resourceful in the use of material, including combining our recycling project with the production of good quality products, including:

  • shoes
  • Tailoring for Bags
  • Reusable Shopping bags using Recycled materials
  • Home decor
  • Fabric design- including batik and screen printing
Cosmetics and Soap Manufacturing

We currently manufacture and retail our innovative body care and herbal hair products locally. We would love the opportunity to expand sales and export for the sustainability of our training programs which depends on the sale of our products. We are focused on continuous capacity building and training to create more rural enterprises and more jobs.

Shoe Manufacturing: The Dignity Project

Our hope is to have every child go to school with a new pair of shoes. There is nothing more likely to be used to unfairly measure your worth than your appearance, however unjust that maybe. Requesting support in manufacturing durable, fashionable and comfortable school shoes to meet demand.

Learn about our Dignity Project so no child is left behind.

Sustainable Tourism Training

We want to establish Youth Lead Tourism as an industry on its own with job creation in environmentally friendly tours. We would like to train group tour coordinators, specialist guides (eco tourism/ cultural) tour guides/ operators, sales reservation agents, site guide, meet and greet guide, Sales marketing and public relations.

We also plan to engender Support markets for the tourist industry, including: Bicycle rental, lodging, cafes, local food tasting tours, souvenir and craft stores, sports and entertainment industries

Recycling and Upcycling

How do we engage schools and local communities in recycling initiatives and find industries ways to use the waste collected so their is an incentive to earn benefits form collecting and separating waste.

Support in educating communities on
  • Waste collection
  • Waste management
  • Up-cycling
  • Behavioral change
  • Plastic reduction
  • Paper bag production
Build a school

The Rural Education Project has identified 10 priority primary schools, we are now on case number 2. We would love to invite you to come and stay and contribute your expertise and resources in getting the job done.
We are currently exploring the possibility of using building blocks made out of recycled plastic material. This recycled material has proved to be very tough and durable in creating floor pavers and driveways, we would like to see if the blocks could also be used to create affordable buildings such as schools, youth hostels for university students in the rural areas, etc. If you have any expertise in this area, we would love to hear from you.
